"They tried to make me go to rehab...

...I said no, no, no."
Today, while my son was jogging, he was joined by this little girl. She jogged along with him all the way home. Her mother had been killed beside the road and she was looking for new friends. As many animals as we already have and as adorable as she was, we knew we were not equipped to raise and rehabilitate a deer. Thank goodness I was able to reach a very nice woman who does wildlife rehabilitation exclusively and this little girl was soon on her way to rehab. Julie Miller of Enid, Oklahoma is a federal and state licensed wildlife rehabilitator. She takes in all kinds of wildlife and after care and rehabilitation returns them to the wild. Julie currently has 4 deer, this one makes 5, raccoons, skunks, foxes, bats, owls, quail and numerous other animals in her care. What a hard, hectic and rewarding job it must be.

How wonderful that she attatched herself to your son - someone who could get her to safety! Poor baby, who knows what would have happened to her otherwise. My parents are "watching over" a pair of seemingly motherless fawns in their neighborhood. They are skittish of people, but hang out in their and thier neighbor's back yard (it's next to some woods). Hopefully they will be safe too.

Oh, poor little baby lost her Mama! She's so beautiful...I wouldn't be able to part with her either! I know, it's for the best. Thank God she found you!

Some things are just meant to happen for a reason, even at the loss of the mother, there was a spark of light sent your way...you and your son grew from this experience...how lucky for you and of course the fawn.

I'm with the Crown Princess, Donna... you are missing your calling-- you should be a head writer for Saturday Night Live! (Then you could buy all of those moose head lights you're fond of...)
As I told you before, Andy must smell like fresh-baked cookies to have SUCH a following!
