Thanks Donna!

I was feeling a little down in the dumps this week, with a lot on my mind and a lot to do. So I stopped in at Donna O'Brien's blog . Just needed to check up on the Swashbuckler Soiree planned for May 3. While there, my spirits were uplifted and I left with a whole new attitude! Thanks, Donna (and Johnny). Donna has an affinity for all things beautiful, including certain pirates. Stop by and visit them at The Ribboned Crown and enjoy a little eye candy too.

Do I Love Mincy?

Yes, I do! I adore this art, these birds, the acerbic humor. This kind of stuff makes my day.

Check out the cards, the prints, the fun, fun, fun magnets at Mincing Mockingbird and his interesting and witty blog.

Reading

Cabinet of Curiosities
by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
"In an ancient tunnel underneath New York City a charnel house is discovered. Inside are thirty-six bodies all murdered and mutilated more than a century ago. While FBI agent Pendergast investigates the old crimes, identical killings start to terrorize the city. The nightmare has begun. Again. "
This isn't War and Peace but it was a fun read. I've been spending a lot of time at the Veteran's hospital. My uncle has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and medical care at the VA requires a LOT of waiting. I couldn't resist the title of this book and I have had a little time on my hands. If only the VA had WiFi.

Thank-you!

I am so excited and flattered that one of my favorite artists, Mary of Green Woman Creating has passed on an award to me. It is the Arte Y Pico Award "for creativity, design, interesting material and contribution to the blogging community." How exciting is that?!

Here are the conditions of accepting the award….

1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself.
4. The Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte Y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. To show these conditions. Award website: Arte Y Pico
Now to nominate 5 of my fellow art blogging friends & let them know how much their blogs inspire me!

There are so many amazing blogs and artists out there that it is hard to choose only five, but here are a few of my favorites:

1. Lady Lavona at Cabinet of Curiosities

2. Chris at CK Designs

4. Capitan Langstrump at Pildoras Crumelus

5. Karen at A'Musements

Mary has also tagged me to list six random facts, quirks, about myself. Now that is going to be hard to do. Because Quirky just happens to be my middle name, well one of my middle names.

1. When I was a kid I wanted to be an entymologist when I grew up, (that and a waitress, lofty ambitions, huh?)

2. I have 30 baby chickens in my dining room and I have 70 more ordered. Need eggs?

3. I can shoot really well.

4. I really really wish I could speak other languages.

5. I would love to have a boat and travel all over the world, except for the fact that I get seasick, really easily. Do you get over that?

I would like to tag the same group above for this also. So heads up!
Be sure to visit Mary she is always up to something interesting.

I Want to Be Katy Keene

fb2designyour own dresspinupkk17katyfashionslargekkcowgirlfashionspp3 hf7dreamysummertimefashionations

My mother was an artist and loved paper dolls. She would draw pin-up girl paper dolls and they looked a lot like Katy Keene. Who is this Katy Keene you ask? She was the creation of comic book artist Bill Woggon and first appeared in all of her long-legged curvalicious glory in 1945. Katy comics were published six times a year and fans would literally line up to buy their issue. They would pour over all of Katy's new outfits, cut them carefully out and dream of being Katy themselves. Readers would submit ideas for her clothing and Bill Woggons would add them to her wardrobe. Truthfully, Katy was before my time. And being the type of child who would rather wear jeans, explore and capture insects and wildlife, I had very little interest in my mother's paperdolls. Until now. And now I think I would love to be Katy, have that killer body and look wonderful when I am 63, no surgery, no botox.
